Shapley Match runs speed-dating nights. We keep as little as we can, for as short as we can. This page says exactly what we keep, why, who sees it and when it's deleted.
Who is responsible
Every event is run by a venue: a bar, club or organizer. The venue is responsible for your data at its event (in legal terms, the "controller"). Its name and contact are shown when you join, and any time in the Me tab.
Shapley Match is the tool the venue uses. It stores and handles the data on the venue's behalf, only as described on this page, and under an agreement with each venue (in legal terms, a "processor"). What we keep, and for how long

Before uploading, your picture is made small on your phone, which also removes hidden information in the photo file, such as where it was taken. We don't ask for your surname, email, phone number or birthday.
Why we're allowed to use it
Who you want to meet can reveal your sexual orientation, which European law treats as especially sensitive. It's only used because you explicitly agree when you join (the checkbox), and only to find your dates. The same consent covers the rest of the data above. You can withdraw it at any time by leaving the event; anything already done stays valid.
Who sees what
- The people you sit with see your name and picture.
- The host sees guests' names, pictures, who they want to meet, and how many dates they had, so they can run the night. The host never sees likes, matches, rankings or chats.
- Your connection sees the messages you send them.
- Shapley Match's organizer (who gives venues access) only sees numbers, like how many guests an event has. No names, pictures, likes or chats.
- Nobody sees a like unless it's mutual.
Where it's stored
Shapley Match runs on Cloudflare, which stores and delivers the data for us under its data processing terms, and may process technical data such as IP addresses to keep the service working and protected. Cloudflare may process data outside the European Union, under the safeguards the law requires. We don't sell data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics.
Venues (hosts)
Venues get a login from Shapley Match's organizer. For each venue, Shapley Match keeps its name and the contact shown to guests, a scrambled fingerprint of its login (never the login itself), when it last used it, and which events it created, until the venue stops using Shapley Match and Shapley Match's organizer deletes it. Venues receive Shapley Match's full details in their agreement.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw your consent, by contacting the venue that ran your event, or Shapley Match at hello@shapleymatch.com. Because guests have no accounts, we may need details from you (like the event and your name) to find your data, and after the event is deleted there's nothing left to find. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Age
Shapley Match is for people aged 18 or older.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
